Hen Night

The Hen Night took place on 16th August 2003. All of the guests had been told to dress in lilac or purple and that was going to be our theme for the night.Julia didn't even know where she was going (apart from the fact it was Wolverhampton) until she was given a lilac balloon with a message on lilac paper attached which said:

Saturday 16th August 2003

An evening of Kareoke at:
Prince Albert, Railway Street

A Night of dancing at:
Flares, Lichfield Street
Mention you are with Julia and receive your party pack.

Have a great night!

So we started off in the Prince Albert, were we got two free bottles of Champagne to start the night off. We also started to get in the very yummy cocktails as well.

Gwen also started off the nights' festivities by introducing the 'Game'. She had asked Podge a series of questions about himself and his and Julia's relationship and Julia had to guess the correct answers.
If she got the answer wrong she'd have to carry out a dare.

She didn't get off to a very good start getting the first question wrong and as her dare having to gather up ten coasters in 30 seconds.

Gwen got chatted up by a fifty year old who spent most of his time staring down his top, and Julia got the third degree off another local.

Then the kareoke started and you could get the party off the stage. Julia sang Hunter by Dido, Lee Ann and Julia sang Especially for you (with some help form the locals), Michelle and Lee belted out I Love Rock 'n' Roll, Wendy, Kate and Jess sung Like a Virgin, Like a Prayer and Black Velvet and they all sang You're the One that I want and American Pie.

They also got a lot of group participation from the locals who were real microphone hoggers.

Eventually they had to call time on the singing and staggered across the road to Flares, where sadly Shirley, Lee Ann and Michelle has to leave the rest of the group to catch the last train home.

In Flares the group were the centre of attention with a lot of random blokes coming up and getting into photos:

... ...

And being asked by two guys dressed up as the 118 118 runners for our numbers. (very good, very original chat up line there)

There was a lot of dancing to cheesy 70's music and CHESNEY HAWKES (woo yay!) and even some pole dancing from Wendy and Kate, which led to a number of guys on the dancefloor getting out their video mobiles and recording it for posterity.

The girls even danced for Tara when Michael Jackson's Thriller came on. Not that they could compare to Tara when she gets warmed up.

Yes, that's Julia being a Zombie during the Thriller dance. She never said she was a good dancer.

But eventually all good things must come to an end and our big red chariot (taxi) arrived to whisk the girls home for a well deserved rest. (although he did drive down the middle of the road, swerved all over the place, and the girls did wonder if he even had a driving licence. . .)
