Poor Drusilla, she hasn't had the nicest of lives and its all Angel's fault.
Let me explain. Drusilla was just a normal girl living in 1860's England. Then a mysterious man came along calling himself Angel. Angel seems a nice enough chap to begin with, until he decided he wanted Dru all to himself. He then murdered every single member of her family sending her mad and running to a convent. The night before she took her vows Angel sired her, and thence a vampire was born.
Angel's lover for a little while she fell in love with one of Angel's newly turned vampires, Spike and they have been inseperable ever since. When Angel got his soul back, Spike and Dru carried on the terrorising duties until a torch burning mob in Prague attacked them and injured Drusilla.
The Drusilla who arrives in Sunnydale is much changed. Very weak and sickly, Spike has to care for her. She had also grown a little more mad, having tea parties with her china dolls and naming the stars she can see in her head. Spike blames Angel for this and plots to make it right.
Spike gets hold of a book which contains a ritual to make Drusilla whole again. The main ingredient is her sire, Angel. Once Spike captures his vampire rival, Dru takes great pleasure in getting her revenge on Angel by torturing him with Holy Water.
Spike performs the ritual but Buffy stops it before it can be completed, but it is enough. The burning church falls on Spike and Drusilla, but once the flames have died, Drusilla rises from the ashes carrying her lover.
Spike is injured and Drusilla cares for him, bringing him puppy shaped food. When Angel turns bad he rejoins the vampires he sired, moving in with Spike and Dru at the factory. Spike is jealous of the attention Dru lavishes on her sire, she loves Angelus in a mad and scary way. And Angel wants to *look after her* in ways that Spike can't.
When the factory is destroyed, Angel moves them into quarters more fitting for Drusilla, a deserted mansion, she loves it and she loves Angel as well, becoming almost insperable from him.
And when Angel decides to open the gates to hell, Dru is in vampire heaven. Spike, very jealous, joins forces with Buffy to stop Angel opening Acathla. In return for helping her he wants to be able to leave Sunnydale with Dru.
Drusilla is rather upset by Spike's betrayal and has to be knocked out in order to escape.
By the sounds of thing, their relationship never recovered. Spike would bring her whatever she wanted, but she'd have none of it. Spike eventually caught her cheating with a choas demon and she walked out on him.
The last time Spike saw her she was seeing a fungus demon, it seems that even torture can't bring Dru back. However, the lure of Spike will, and Dru finally returned to Sunnydale in Season Five. She'd been badly hurt by Angel and wanted Spike to soothe her hurts. She was not pleased to find her love neutered and killed for him so he could taste the first warm human blood since he was chipped. She was less pleased to discover that her love had a crush - still - on Buffy and tried to beat it out of him before trying to kill Buffy. She was disgusted when Spike saved Buffy's life and left Sunnydale without a backwards glance.
