Darla

Darla has a long and interesting history as a vampire. She is a member of the Brethren of Aurelius and one of The Master's main minions. She was also his favourite for 400 years.

She was travelling in Ireland during the 1700's when she came across the drunken son of a local Lord. She was so taken by him that she sired him as a vampire. His name was Angel. They have met up again and again in the intervening years around the world, including Japan. When they meet up in Sunnydale Angel is less than pleased to see her, and it seems, that feeling is mutual.

Being The Master's favourite does have its advantages though. Darla can disobey him without threat of retribution, and he does let her have 'fun', like killing "the Three", the vampire hunters sent to kill Buffy. She has a need for revenge as well. She wants to bring Angel "back into the fold" and tries to do so by hurting those closest to him. (Attacking Buffy's mother and trying to frame Angel for it). However her ploy does not work and Angel ends up killing her, which upset The Master quite a bit.
