I'm Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and you are?
Buffy has had an interesting life to say the least. Bought up in LA she lived the 'Clueless' lifestyle that all LA kids seem to lead. A cheerleader on the Hemery High squad, life was simple for Buffy until the day she met a mysterious man named Merrick, who told her she had a destiny. Life was never simple again after that.
"Into every generation there is a Slayer, A chosen One. One girl in all the world with the strength and the skill to fight vampires. . . " (or something like that.)
Obviously Buffy was not happy with her lot in life, but she got trained up by Merrick and burned down her school gym in the process (killing a lot of vampires). Unfortunately, this action got her kicked out of school and Buffy and her mother moved to Sunnydale to make a fresh start. Little did they know they were moving to the Hellmouth.
Sophormore Year
When Buffy started school she tried to put the whole Slaying thing behind her
and start afresh. However, you cannot ignore your destiny. The first time she
met her new watcher Giles, she let him know exactly what she thought of Slaying.
Unfortunately, Xander overheard the argument and the rest, as they say, is history.
So Buffy is now the saviour of our world, but the situation is fraught with problems. She is madly in love with a vampire, so much so that every time they kiss she wants to die. However, as a vampire slayer she has to kill him. Slightly problematic, wouldn't you say? Her other relationships have been just as bad; first off there was Owen (who loved her wild lifestyle, not her); then there was Tom, a college boy who was only interested in her as a sacrifice, and Xander, who she loves only as a friend. (Xander blames 'fang-boy').
Her closest friends are Xander (you're one of the girls), Willow and Giles. Even Cordelia and now Anya as well. (Her job limits her number of friends you see.)
She did try out for the Sunnydale Cheerleading squad, and got turned into a gibbering wreck for her troubles (A spell cast by Amy's mother, Catherine).
Buffy is also credited as being the most successful slayer for killing The Master, the most powerful vampire who ever lived. However, it was not without it's problems. The Master was going to bring down Helll on Earth and he needed the blood of a Slayer to do it. Giles found a Prophecy which said she was going to die. Buffy overheard him and Angel talking about it and quit. The Unfortunate deaths of a group of her classmates made her realise that she couldn't turn her back on her destiny and went to face the Master who bit her (freeing himself from the Hellmouth) and dumped her in a pool of water.
Angel and Xander found her and Xander gave her CPR and brought her back to life. She went off to fight the Master, won and partied.
Junior Year
Over the summer she went back to LA to stay with her father. When she came back
she was different. More violent, more nasty, she even managed to out bitch Cordelia
(a mean feat if ever there was one). A group trip to the Bronze ended with Buffy
dancing in a very suggestive manner with Xander (to make Angel jealous you see).
She wasn't possessed, like Xander and Willow thought she was. She was in fact dealing very badly with her death and the death of the Master. Once she ground his bones into dust, things started to look up.
Her relationship with Angel got stronger and more intimate, her friends were happy, even the arrival of Spike and Dru did little to dampen the mood.
The arrival of old friends in town led to some problems. First there was Ethan Rayne, Giles' old 'chum' a magician with a love of whimsy, who opened a store selling costumes around Halloween. Xander become a soldier-guy, Willow a ghost and poor Buffy became a 18th Century noble woman who thought Cars were demons and fainted at any given oppurtunity.
The second old friend was Billy Fordham, Buffy's old school crush. He said his dad had moved to Sunnydale and was going to go to Sunnydale High. He seemed a nice enough chap, regaling the Scooby Gang with tales of a pre-Slayer Buffy. He knew of Buffy's secret, but he also had one of his own; he was dying from a brain tumour and had come to Sunnydale to persuade Spike to turn him into a Vampire. In return he'd give Spike the Slayer. Unfortunately, Ford was double crossed, but Spike did give him his dying wish and he did become a vampire which Buffy killed.
Spike, mightily annoyed with the Slayer ordered the Order of Taraka to kill her. Three assassins came. They would keep her busy while Spike kidnapped Angel (who he needed for a ritual to restore Dru back to full health). As well as three assassins a new friend arrived in the 'dale. Her name was Kendra. She was the Vampire Slayer.
When Buffy died, (even though it was only for a few moments) the next Slayer was called. Kendra's Watcher had found out what Spike was up to and sent Kendra to help Buffy and the others stop it. Which they did (of course) and Kendra went back to whence she came. Now Buffy was one of the Chosen Two.
Buffy's 17th Birthday was rapidly approaching and the gang decided to have a surprise party for her. Spike jad a surprise of his own though, in the shape of the Judge. A demon so powerful that he could burn the humanity out of a person. After surprising some of Spike's hench-vampires Buffy recovered a box. It had an arm inside which tried to strangle our heroine. Angel recognised what it was and told them that he'd have to leave Sunnydale, go to the remotest part of the world and hide the arm so that the demon could never be made whole. Buffy, naturally enough, was a little upset about it, but let Angel go.
She went to the docks to say goodbye to him and they were ambushed by the hench-vamps who stole the arm back again. Angel had to stay in Sunnydale to help fight it. Buffy and Angel went to the factory to try and stop them assembling the Judge but they were too late. They managed to escape the factory and they holed up in Angel's apartment. Buffy was injured and Angel tried to tend to the deep gash in her back. One thing (inevitably) led to another and Buffy got a Birthday surprise she wasn't expecting. (ahem)
Angel experienced a moment of true happiness (well wouldn't you after doing *that* with the girl you loved) and his curse was broken. he reverted back to Angelus and things went very pear-shaped.
Angelus started to torment Buffy, leaving pictures of her sleeping on her pillow and sending her roses on Valentine's day. Buffy started to find out exactly how cruel her undead-creature-of-the-night boyfriend really was. A gesture of apology from Jenny Calendar prevented Angelus getting inside Buffy and Willow's houses, but not the school. Angelus murdered Jenny in cold blood and left her for Giles to find.
Buffy had to save Giles when he went to the factory to kill Angelus and she realised that she couldn't kill the vampire she loved, not yet, but one day soon she'd have the strength to do so.
While trying to deal with the whole Angelus thing, Xander performed a love spell which went awry making Buffy fall madly in lust with him and inadventantly turning her into a rat.
Then she got sick with the 'flu and discovered and invisible demon that would suck the life out of sick kids, realising when she did that it was the same demon that killed her cousin Celia. After killing that, ghostly activity filled the school, with two dead star-crossed lovers repeating the moments that led to the death of one of them. In a bizarre parody, Angel and Buffy were possesed by said spirits and they acted out the death of Grace Newman a teacher in love with pupil James who shot her. However, because Angel was a vampire and couldn't be killed by a bullet, the two ghosts were able to forgive each other and move on, but not before Angel and Buffy shared a gentle kiss.
The end of the school year approaches and with it another test for the Slayer and her friends. A building construction unearths a statue which is infact the defeated form of the demon Acathla. This demon has the power to open the gates to Hell. And Angelus wants to be the vampire to do it. It's up to Buffy to stop him. The arrival of Kendra only highlights how dire a situation it is.
Willow discovers a disk Jenny was working on with the translation of the Ritual of Restoration. Buffy asks Willow to try and give Angel his soul back, but is led into a trap by said vampire, which left Willow in a coma, Xander with his arm in plaster, Giles kidnapped and being tortured by Angelus and Kendra dead.
Buffy joins forces with Spike (who doesn't want to world to end) and they hatch a plan to stop Angel. Buffy goes to the mansion to confront him, not knowing that a now conscious Willow is going to try the spell again.
Inside the mansion, Buffy Confronts Angelus just as he pulls the sword out of the demon, waking it. They fight and Buffy looks likely to lose but she rallies back and manages to overpower Angelus. She is about to kill him when Willow restores his soul.
However, Acathla is waking and the gates to Hell are opening, the only way to stop that happening is to kill the one who opened them in the first place. Crying, Buffy tells Angel to 'close your eyes' and plunges her sword through him, closing the gates to hell but sending Angel to the Demon Dimensions in the process.
Shell shocked by what has happened; the death of her love by her hand and the death of the Slayer, Buffy packs her bags and heads away from Sunnydale, to try and rebuild the shattered pieces of her life.
Senior Year
Buffy is living in LA, working as a waitress and trying to forget she was ever
a Slayer, she has broken off all contact with her friends and her mother and
none of them know if she is dead or alive. After a chance meeting with a girl
called Lily (aka Chanterelle, one of Ford's vampire-wannabe friends) and a short
stay in the Demon Dimensions herself she decides to return to Sunnydale.
Her mother, her Watcher and her friends are all very pleased to see her again, but keep their distance, unsure of her. They throw a welcome home party which goes badly when a group of zombies gatecrash it.
Back in school, back into Slayage mode and with a possible boyfriend (Scott Hope) Buffy tries to settle back into her old life. She feels a little out of it though. The slayerettes helped to keep the vampire population at bay while she was gone and the death of Kendra called a new Slayer in the form of Faith.
Buffy competes against Cordelia to be Homecoming Queen, loses Scott because she still loves Angel and is an unwilling participant in SlayerFest '98.
Then a spanner is really thrown into the works with the return of Angel from the Demon Dimensions. She tries to hide him from the rest of the group but it was only a matter of time before they found out. The Angel that returned is no more than an animal but he begins to regain his humanity and is grudgingly welcomed back into the fold.
Trying to get close to her daughter again, Joyce accompanies Buffy on a patrol where they find two little children dead in a playground, a possible satanic offering. Joyce starts MOO (Mother's Opposed to the Occult) and they start to clean up the less desireable elements of Sunnydale which leads to Buffy, Willow and Amy about to be burned at the stake.
Then Buffy starts to lose her powers. She discovers that Giles has been hypnotising her and injecting her with a drug that supresses her Slayer powers. It's all part of a test which the council performs on any Slayer that manages to make it to adulthood. Buffy, feeling betrayed by her father-figure Watcher, is more isolated than ever. When she finds out that the Council's test has gone awry and the vampire she was supposed to kill has escaped and kidnapped her mother, she is underatandably a little miffed. Giles helps her save her mother and for his troubles is kicked out of the Watcher's Council.
Buffy and Faith get a new Watcher, a drippy Englishman called Wesley. Faith accidently Kills the Deputy Mayor and turns to the dark side by joining the Mayor who is readying for his Ascension.
One night while out patrolling, Buffy encounters two demons, one she manages to kill but not before it passes an aspect of itself onto her. Worried that she is about to sprout horns or a tail, Buffy's a little wigged. She cheers up when she discovers she is now telepathic. It starts off fun, but it doesn't last. Afraid of what the Slayer can hear, her friends stay out of her way. She hears a member of the school plotting to kill the other students and the voices in her head get too much and she collaspes. Unless they can find a way to stop or control it, Buffy will go insane.
Angel tracks down the other demon and gets Buffy to eat its heart, curing her of her telepathic powers.
The Senior Prom is coming up and Buffy wants Angel to go with her. Angel tells her that he can't be aorund her anymore, that she needs to lead a normal life and that once the Ascension is over he is leaving. A student is training Hellhounds to cause carnage at the Prom and it is up to Buffy to save the day again, which she does. Going to the Prom (purely in a chaperone capacity) she is surprised by being the receipient of a new award 'Class Protector'. The kids of Sunnydale knew all about the strange stuff going on and how it was Buffy that saved them time and time again and they honoured her. As the last dance started Angel appeared in the doorway to the gym and gave Buffy her 'one perfect high school moment'.
The day of the Ascension is fast approaching. Faith shoots Angel with a poisoned arrow. The only cure for him is the blood of a Slayer. Buffy asks Wesley to ask the Watcher's Council for help. He comes back and tells her that because Angel is a vampire and the vampire Angelus to boot they willl not help her. They think that he is better off dead. This is the last straw for Buffy, sick and tired of the Council's pettiness she quits and with Giles she will Slay without the help of the Council.
As Angel lays dying, Buffy goes to confront Faith. She was the cause of Angel's current situation and she'll be the one to fix it. Faith doesn't fancy being Angel's meal and fights for her life. In the struggle Buffy accidentally stabs faith with her own knife in the stomach. Faith jumps off her building landing on a passing truck and being taken to hospital.
Buffy makes to decision to give her life for the one she loves and offers herself to Angel. He won't feed off her. So Buffy gives him a little pummeling, to bring to demon to the fore. Angel feeds off her and almost drains her dry until the souled part of him gets control again and takes her to the hospital.
Buffy recovers and with help from Faith (who appears to her in a dream) comes up with a plan to stop the Mayor.
Graduation Day. The day of the Mayor's Ascension. Buffy and the Slayerettes are prepared, the senior class (in on the plans) are prepared. When the Mayor changed into a demon and the vampires attacked, Buffy's classmates (led by Xander) fought back bravely, keeping the vamps at bay.
Buffy used the Mayor's love of Faith to get him angry and got him to chase her through the school to the library, (they they had emptied of books and filled with dynamite) and blew the Mayor into lots of tiny pieces.
The Ascension averted, the school destroyed, it seemed a fitting end to the school year. Slightly dazed by the explosion Buffy saw Angel leaving for God knows where...no goodbyes...
Once again they had saved the world and survived...
UC Sunnydale Freshman Year
Now Buffy is starting College at the UC Sunnydale. She feels out of her depth,
everyone seems so smart and so outgoing, even Willow. it doesn't help though
that Buffy has a roomate from Hell and she was kicked out of her first class.
Things look up though when she drops a huge pile of books on a cute guy's head,
but he seems to be more interested in Willow than poor old Buffy.
There is also a new big bad on campus in the shape of fashion-conscious Vampire, Sunday. Sunday beats Buffy into a pulp the first time they meet and Buffy wonders whether College life is for her or not, especially when her first non-Scooby firend ends up getting Vamped. Bummed, Buffy goes to the Bronze where she bumps into Xander who gives her a good pep-talk (mangling Star Wars in the process) and giving Buffy back her confidence to go out and stake stuff.
She feels a lot better and goes to confront Sunday, who has stolen her stuff and is breaking her class protector umbrella that Jonathon gave her. This is enough to push her into Slayer mode and she makes short work of the vamp and her hench-vamps. All is well, until hse goes back to her dorm room.
To say that Buffy and Kathy have a clash of personalities would be a bit of an understatement. Kathy, steals her clothes, and ruins them, complains about Buffy leaving gum on a table and marks all her food. Buffy starts to go slightly insane, but the gang don't understand the hatred. To them Kathy is a normal girl. Well not that normal, as Buffy discovers when her roommate tries to suck out her soul beofre being dragged back to her own dimenstion by her irate demon father. Buffy's room has a spare bed so Willow moves in. Buffy noticed a sweet, handsome guy, named Parker, they get on well, really well, and Buffy ends up sleeping with him. At which point the little git dumps her and starts to persue other women. Buffy is gutted, and turns to beer to drown her sorrow, only this is Sunnydale and that's magical beer which regresses her and some other college guys into neanderthal's, but Cave-Buffy does clump Parker around the head with a big stiock so it;s not all bad, and the eefects do wear off.
Oz does the Dirty on Willow, and Buffy has to pick up the pieces, she is working so hard to keep Willow together that she doesn't notice that Mr Right - or should we say - Mr Riley Finn - is standing there right in front of her. She's too busy trying to find out what Spike is upto, which infuriates Will so much that she wishes that they'd get together - sort of. Under the spell, Buffy and Spike fall in love and Spike proposes to her, there is so much to get done before the wedding :). Luckily the spell does wear up and Buffy feels very ill when she thinks about having kissed Spike (poor love).
Buffy is annoyed that Angel went to Sunnydale to protect her and didn't even tell her, so she follows him back to LA and confronts him. hey fight a demon who's blood gives Angel back his humanity, and he and Buffy spend a blissful 24-hours together before Angel realises that he can't fight the good fight without being a vampire and asks the Oracles of the Power's that Be to make him a vampire again. Buffy is distraught at the thought of losing Angel again, especially when she finds out that when Angel vamps again, time will go back 24 hours and she won't even remember it. Although it is for the best.
When the mysterious Gentlemen come to town and Sunnydale loses it's voice it's upto Buffy to save them, she also finds out who the mysterious commando guys around campus are - it's Riley. After the Gentlemen are dispatched, Buffy comes clean about being the Slayer and is inducted into the Initiative corps. Professor Walsh, Buffy's Pysch teacher (and Initiative head) thinks Buffy is a liability, especially as she is turning Riley away from her and asking too many questions. She sends Buffy off with defective weapons to go fight some demons, Buffy nearly dies because of her though. Walsh's death shortly afterwards puts some strain on the newly formed relationship. Especially when Riley reacts badly to the meds-withdrawal he's going through. It's noly when he's taken away by the Initiative to recover that she realises how much she has come to love him.
While all this is going on, Faith awakens from her coma and sets out to have her revenge on Buffy. The mayor has left her a gift, which when used, lets the wearer and the perosn they're touching swap bodies, Faith becomes Buffy. Wile Faith is living it up being the 'good' Slayer Buffy has to escape from the Council, who are out to kill her, and convince her friends that she's Buffy. Luckily, Tara recognises that Faith/Buffy isn't herself and comes up with the Spell to revert them to their own bodies. Buffy is crushed to hear that Faith has sex with Riley while she was in Buffy's body and Riley didn't recognise her.
Adam, Walsh's little secret, escapes from the Initiative lab and goes on the rampage, killing and maiming while he tries to learn about who he is. He decides to create a hybrid army like himself and enlists the help of the demon population to acheive this end. Buffy needs help, but she doesn't want to trust Riley. It's only when the universe is skewed by Jonathon (who wanted to create a world where he was popular (and also in the Matrix)) and Jonathan tells her to take a chance on her and Riley's love that she swallows her pride and her doubts.
When Oz comes back for Willow he is captured and taken away to the Initiative headquarts for testing. It's upto Buffy to save him, especially as Riley gets himself court-martialed trying to do the same thing. When Riley does the hardest thing (for him) and quits the Initiative, she tells him the truth about Angel (missing out the moment of happiness bit) before going to LA again to drag Faith back. Angel is trying to get Faith to repent and Buffy's not happy about this, they argue and part on very bad terms.
Angel goes back to Sunnydale to apologise to Buffy, meets and scraps with Riley and gets told off by Buffy. Angel tells her that he doesn't like the ex-commando - the closest he gets to approving of Buffy's new man.
Adam has been busy though and preparations are almost vomplete for the war he needs to make the spare body parts he needs for his hybrid army. He is too powerful for Buffy to stop by herself, so she, Giles, Xander and Willow merge together to make a super-Buffy which defeats Adam no problems.
Well, actually yes, there were problems as meddling with the primal forces of the Slayer brings forth the First Slayer who persues Buffy and the other Scoobies through their dreams. Buffy stands up to her and tells her that she needs her friends, she's not just a killing machine, she doesn't sleep on a bed of bones. She's Buffy, a person and she loves her friends. She walks in the world.
