Season Four
The Yoko Factor
|
Colonel McNamara talks to a collegue about the plans for the Initiative (He's just holing it together), getting Riley back (who was their best agent) and dealing with Buffy (the thorn in their side). He doesn't think that Buffy should be too difficult, after all she is just a girl... Spike disagrees with this thought (that is shared by Adam) and tries to tell the demon-hybrid that Buffy is a very dangerous person. She will be a challenge to kill (he couldn't do it even when he was invincible) and that she houldn't be underestimated. Adam asks Spike is its true that he killed two Slayers and asks why Spike hasn't managed to do the same to this one. Spike points out that it is more difficult now because of the chip in his head which Adam still hasn't removed. It's a task made even harder, Spike adds, by the Slayerettes. Adam asks what would happen if they removed the Slayerettes from the picture; Spike likes the thought and the two of them come up with a plan to break the Scooby gang up altogether. Spike calls it the Yoko Factor after Yoko Ono, the woman who everyone blames for the split of the Beatles. Buffy returns from her terrible trip to LA to find her room empty. Willow's not there for her to talk to. Xander shows up at Sunnydale High with some spare clothes for Riley so he can get the one's he's wearing washed. The trousers are rather bright. The pair of them spend some quality time together slagging off Angel and Xander lets slip about the curse and what needs to be done for Angel to lose his soul. Riley isn't happy that Buffy left this bit out. Xander tells him not to worry, that it would never happen again. Giles is singing to himself in his apartment and doesn't hear Spike let himself in. Spike tells teh ex-Watcher off for leaving his door unlocked all the time, anyone could walk in. (I thinks it's time Giles did an invitation-revoke spell on his place.) Spike isn't paying a social visit though. He can get inside information about the initiative for them, but for a very hefty price. He adds that Buffy doesn't respect her Watcher any longer and that she sees him as a retired librarian. Giles is upset by this. Willow is around at Tara's playing with the new (extremely cute) kitten. Willow is absolutely besotted by her. They are planning their classes for next year. Tara suggests that they live together and Willow says that she always thought that she'd live with Buffy, but now she's not so sure. Riley goes to visit Buffy in his brightly coloured trousers that he says need charging up every couple of hours. Buffy tells him that Angel upset her but doesn't want to talk about it. This annoys Riley and he leaves her to her moping. Xander and Any bright Spike some combats and a gun so he can get into the Initiative undercover. Spike isn't impressed by the get-up but he likes the gun. He tries to point it at Xander but gets a bad pain in his head. Anya reckons that he's pathetic. Spike continues his Yoko-ing of the group by telling Xander that Buffy and Willow think he is useless and that they were talking about him joining the Army. Anya doesn't get off lightly either. Buffy is on patrol in the woods when she runs into Forrest. She can't be bothered to aruge with him and goes to investigate a cave. Forrest follows. They are attacked by Adam who skewers Forrest, killing him. Buffy barely gets out alive, rollign down a slope and smacking her head on a rock knocking her out. Spike pretends to get the information form the Initiative (in reality from Adam) and brings it back to Giles' place. Giles is getting more and more drunk. Willow is having trouble de-crypting the disk and Spike makes comments about her Wiccan interest and how the rest of the Scoobies aren't really supporting her on it, he also makes comments about her friendship with Tara. Willow is visibly upset by it. Riley is scanning the Initiative waveband and hears that there is trouble not too far away from where he's hiding out. He goes to investigate and finds a very cross Angel, all vamped out. They end up facing off and get into a fight. Riley takes it worst though and is thrown about a lot. They are interrupted by the arrival of an Initiative Hum-Vee. Angel leaves Riley in the gutter and goes to find Buffy. Buffy comes aorund and staggers back to her dorm room. SHe's only just got inside when Angel knocks on her door. He has to prompt her to invite him in and he is about to apologise for the things he said when Riley bursts in pointing a gin at Angel's head. They start bitching at each other and Buffy has to physically seperate them telling them that if they get nasty she's going to hurt them. A lot. She drags Angel outside. Angel says that he only came to make things right and that he isn't making a very good job of it. This makes Buffy laugh. They take it in turns to apologise for all the horrible things they said to each other and Angel heads back to LA. As he walks down the corridor, he turns and tells Buffy that he doesn't like Riley very much. Buffy tells him 'thank you'. Spike goes back to Adam and tells him that he's successfully spilt up the Scoobies. Adam is pleased. Buffy goes back in to deal with Riley. Riley tells her that Xander told about the Curse. Buffy swears to kill her friend. Riley defends Xander saying that it wasn't his fault. Riley was worried that she'd gone back to LA to make up with Riley and that being in love is making him act crazy. They tell each other that they love each other (aww) and Buffy tells Riley the bad news about Forrest. Riley walks out, wanting to be on his own. Another Scooby meeting is called, but it's a terrible affair. Willow can't crack the code and gets annoyed by Buffy's can't you do it any quicker? comments. Giles is now very very drunk and Buffy tells him to stop it, Giles doesn't care what she says though. Buffy wants to take on Adam, Xander says that he's offer to go, but the others obviously don't need him if they think he's useless. Tara and Anya beat a hasty retreat to the bathroom. Willow is upset that they don't accept her relationship with Tara. This is the first Xander's heard about it and is a little surprised as is Giles who shout's 'bloody hell!' before presumably passing out on his bed. Buffy looks at her friends and says that she doesn't need Xander or Willow's help or the drunken Giles to dribble on her shoe. She walks out slamming the door behind her. In the bathroom, Tara and Anya wonder is this is going to go on for ages or not. Anya notices the tiles and says that she likes them. Someone comes into Adam's hideout. Adam has been waiting for him. The camera cuts and it's Riley. |
