>BUffy and the Scoobies are on patrol in the cemetery. They manage to bag a couple of vampires but one of them gets away like the coward it is. They trail it back to a crypt and find a nest of vampires there. It is too much for Buffy and the gang to handle so they go to get help, in the shap of . . . Jonathan. Jonathan agrees to help them and tells Buffy that she did the right thing in coming to him for help. They go to Giles's for weapons and even practices some hand-to-hand combat with Buffy. It is obvious that he's better than she is. Willow hacks into the schematics of the cemtery to try and find a good way to attack the vamps but Jonathan finds a better way. He quickly comes up with a plan and tells everyone where to go. In the crypt Jonathan shows off his greater Slaying prowess leaving Buffy feeling very inadequate, especially when she nearly lets a vampire escape. As they are leaving the crypt a bunch of photographers show up to take photos of the wonderful Jonathan. As they walk through the centery he senses Spike and gets the vampire to reveal itself. Spike calls Buffy Betty and Jonathan's Scooby Gang 'Battle Kittens'. Buffy's not too good with the puns and Jonathan has to step up to verbally beat the vampire down. Willow and Tara are sitting in Tara's room sticking somthing to the wall infront of them. They chat about how great Jonathan is and about how Riley and Buffy's relationship is stalling. The camera pulls away to show that they are sticking pictures of Jonathan to the wall in a huge college. Buffy is at Riley's (and he's walking around topless - again) but she is still too uncomfortable being around him and has to leave. At the Coffee House the next day Jonathan is consoling Buffy over her reltionship with Riley. He tells the Slayer that she's upset because Riley doesn't know her as well as she wants him too and tries to convince her to forgive Riley and not to let her expectations get too high concerning her relationships. They are interrupted by Karen (with a K) a fan of Jonathan's complete with his autobiography which she gets him to sign. In the Initiative HQ a replacement has been found to replace Maggie in running the facility. His name is Colonel George Haviland and his first priority is to stop Adam. He brings in an expert who turns out to be Jonathan. Jonathan has a plan to capture and stop Adam and explains it to the rest of the Initiative. Karen, the fan from the coffee house is staking out Jonathan's house trying to catch a glipse of her icon but instead gets attacked by a scary looking demon. After the meeting Jonathon has a heart-to-heart with Riley about Buffy. He's determined to get these two back together. Once their chat is over, Jonathan blindfolds himself and shoots apples of the top of some Initiative members heads. Later the gang are all at the Bronze, enjoying themselves - apart from Xander and Anya. Xander complains that when they had sex the night before Anya was moaning Jonathan's name. Jonathan comes on stage and sings a song which he dedicates to Buffy and Riley. Riley leads Buffy out onto the dancefloor. When Jonathan starts to play the trumpet Xander and Anya look at each other then duck out to find somewhere to have sex. Buffy tells Riley that she forgives him and they enjoy their dance. Just then Karen stumbles into the Bronze, her clothes all torn and covered in blood. Jonathan breaks off half way through his set to go and see what is going on. Jonathan takes Karen back to his place, with Buffy and Riley close behind. They are met by the police who were called to the scene by Jonathan's neighbours. Jonathan tells them that he has everything under control. He asks Karen to describe the demon to him. She doesn't remember much apart form the fact that the demon had a symbol on its forehead. She draws it for them and Jonathan takes a look at it. He tells the Slayer and Riley that the demon is nothing to worry about. It is harmless and probably more scared of Karen than Karen was of it. He tells tham that he'll take care of it. Adam, holed up somewhere is Sunnydale is aware that something is wrong and that Jonathan is the cause of it. He tells his hench-vamp that the sort of Magic that Joanthan seems to be messing with is unstable and likely to descend into Chaos. And Adam finds Chaos very intriguing. At Jonathan's two blonde Swedish girls in skimpy nightclothes call Jonathon up to bed. He drops his dressing gown to reveal a scar on his tattoo that is very similar (if not exactly the same) as the one that Karen drew. Tara is on her way back to the dorm room when the demon attacks her. She tries to fight it off, but isn't too good with the physical stuff and resorts to magic, but can't finish off the spell. In desperation she locks herself in the Janitor's closet and the demon can't get at her. The next morning Buffy is called over to Tara's room where she finds Willow caring for her. She tells Buffy that the Wiccan was found in the closet this morning. She's been in there all night by herself. Buffy draws the symbol that Karen drew and asks Tara if this was on the demon that she saw. Tara affirms it and Buffy decides that something is amiss. Buffy stops by Xander's only to find Anya there. Buffy persuades Anya to let her in and she goes through some of his stuff. Xander has a lot of Jonathan merchandise. Buffy voices some og ther thoughts to Anya and asks her if she thinks that Jonathan is too perfect. Anya is not convinced. Buffy continues saying that Jonathan has been creditted with doing everything great in the world (being in the Matrix for one) yet there is no way that he could have done it all. She wonders whether Jonathan could have created an alternate Universe and questions Anya about them. Buffy carries on her argument by calling a meeting at Giles's. The others aren't convinced but Riley supports her. They dig out Giles's copy of the Jonathan swimsuit calendar and Mr July shows a scar on Jonathan's shoulder exactly the same as the one of the demon's head. Joanthan walks in at just that moment and when Buffy asks him to explain himself he tells tham that he fought this demon and nearly lost. He had the mark of the demon tattoo'd onto him to remind him not to underestimate the demon again. The others seem satisfied with this explanation but Buffy is not convinced. She tells Jonathan that the demon hurt Tara and Jonathan agrees to go and hunt it. Buffy and Jonathan head to the cemtery to get some information off Spike and they head to a cave outside town where the demon is supposed to be holed up. Willow discovers that Jonathan did an augmentation spell to make him all-great and all-powerful. The downside of this is the demon which is everything that is bad about Jonathan, a balancing demon if you will. In the cave is a deep pit and Jonathan is about to push Buffy down it when they are attacked by the demon. Jonathan tries to fight it, but everytime he fights it he gets weaker. He tells Buffy to believe in her abilties and she gives the demon a good kicking, which results in it falling down the pit almost taking Jonathan with it. Buffy grabs his leg and saves him. Everything goes back to normal. The next day the gang are sitting on the grass outside campus and discussing the alternate universe. Xander says that he feels betrayed by Jonathan, because Jonathan truly made him feel wanted (which is more than the rest of the Scooby Gang have done), Buffy points out that Tara was the person most hurt by Jonathan. She then spots Jonathan stalking past and goes over to ask him why he did it. He tells her that when he went to crisis counselling after the events in 'Earshot' he made friends with a guy who gave him the augmentation spell, but he skipped the demon part otherwise Jonathan wouldn't have done it. He tells her that he meant everything he said about her and Riley's relationship. Much later, Buffy and Riley are getting re-accquainted and they are kissing until Buffy moans Jonathan's name. |
