Buffy is on patrol in the cemetery when she is attacked by a vampire, as they plunge over a tomb, Buffy spots Parker being attacked by a pair of vampires. She manages to dust all three of them and save Parker. he thanks her for saving his life then begs forgiveness for being so poop-headed to her.

Then Buffy is jarred from her daydream. She's passing the time in Pyschology class. She looks down to see Parker flirting with another girl, Buffy looks sad. After class, Xander meets up with the two girls and proudly tells them of his new job that makes him campus-guy. He's a bartman at the Student Pub. Willow points out that you need to be a student to work at the bar and Xander shows them his fake student ID. He even has his barman props sorted out, his rag, his lighter and his sympathetic face. Buffy isn't really paying much attention, still moping over Parker and wondering whether he'll ever come back to her.

That night it is Xander's first shift and he's having some problems serving as everyone wants to be served at once, but he's trying and not doing *that* badly. Buffy comes in all depressed to see Xander, but spots Parker flirting with yet another girl. Not paying attention to where she is going she walks straight into Riley and knocks his pint down him. She apologises, but Riley doesn't seem too bothered by it. he see who Buffy is lokking at and tells her that parker is bad news and to stay well away form him

Xander tries to start up a conversation with a pretty girl but is interupted by another Uni student who makes fun of him. Buffy comes up to the bar, when Xander sees her she goes over to her and tries to cheer her up, but he's interupted by his boss who tells him to go back to work. Buffy gets ready to go home but on the way out walks into another boy who, with the help of his friends - persaudes her to stay and have a drink with them. Buffy ends up getting rather drunk.

Meanwhile, Willow and Oz are at the Bronze on a date. A band called 'Shy' are performing, the lead singer is the girl Oz walked past while Buffy was obsessing over Kathy, Oz tells Willow that she's called Vercucca and Oz can't keep his eyes off her. Willow is upset by Oz's attitude, but doesn't say anything to him.

The next morning, Willow lets herself back into her dorm room to find Buffy suffering with a really bad hangover. She's sitting about two inches away form the TV seemingly mesmerised by the pictures. Willow manages to get her up and dressed and into class.

But buffy's strange behaviour doesn't finish there. In class she starts to watch another girl eating a salad sandwich. Buffy grabs the sandwich out of her hand and starts to eat it. Willow asks Buffy whats wrong, but Buffy thinks everything is fine.

Willow catches up with Oz and asks him why he wasn't in class. he asks her if she wants to go to the Bronze to see Vercucca sing. Willow declines, saying she has work to do and leaves Oz to go by himself.

After class, Buffy goes back to the student bar and joins the boys from the night before. Once again she gets incredibly drunk and the boys are not much better, their eloquent language replaced by single syllable words and grunts. Xander puts a song on the jukebox (Nothing But You from off the Soundtrack). Buffy comes over to investigate and is rather taken by the box that sings. Xander hates to see Buffy like this and cuts off her beer supply and sends her home, telling her to sleep it off.

The four boys she was drinking with notice that she's gone, but forget all about her when they start to change into caveman like creatues, with over hanging brows and lots of body hair. When Xander comes over to see them they knock him to the ground and only the flame from his lighter scares them away. Xander goes to see the landlord and finds out that the landlord's brother is a warlock and gave him the recipe for Black Frost Beer (what Buffy and the guys were drinking) which brings out the primal side in anyone that dringks it. Xander - worried about what Buffy could get up to - goes to Giles for help and they go off to try and find Buffy.

Willow goes to the bar and finds Parker there. Angry she demands an explanation for his terrible treatment of her friend. he tells her that he was only after sex, he didn't want commitment and adds that he didn;t intend to lead Buffy on.

Giles and Xander track Buffy down in her room where she has been passing the time by drawing stick people on the wall. As Giles and Xander try to work out what to do, Buffy amises herself by spinning around on a chair until she falls off. She also tells Xander that he smells nice. Giles accidentally mentions Beer and Buffy sets off to find some. Xander tells Giles off.

The four guys from the bar are roaming the streets, checking out the rubbish, cars and passing girls. One of them hits another with a branch knocking him out.

Parker attempts to charm Willow with the flirty lines he uses on all the girls. She pretends to be falling for it at first and in the end tells him that she isn't and mocks him. The caveman-like uni students burst in and knock Willow and Parker out with branch-clubs. They build a fire made up of the furniture from the bar, but it gets rather out of hand and the rest of the bar goes up in flames.

Outside on the campus grounds, Xander finds Buffy and is trying to persuade her to come with him when she spots the flames of the fire. ('Fire bad' (tree pretty)), she runs off, Xander close behind. Buffy leaps into the flames but Xander is beaten back by the smoke, but it doesn't stop him trying. Buffy spots Willow and then a wondow, high up in the wall. She leaps up and grabs hold of some pipes and climbs across to the window, kicking the frame out. She then carries out Willow and the the cavemen. Parker is hiding in a corner, when he sees Buffy he starts to beg forgiveness and whatnot. Buffy knocks him out out with a handy plank of wood befoer getting him out of the fire.

Xander locks the cavemen in someone's unlocked car and askes Buffy what lessons she's learnt about beer. She tells him that it's foamy. parker comes over to Buffy again saying almost exactly the same words as he said in her daydream only to get clubbed over the head by him again.

Xander, Giles and Willow join Buffy and look down on Parker. Without saying anything they walk away, Xander helping Buffy walk in the right direction.
