The arrival of a new group of demons mean Buffy, Faith and the rest of the Scooby Gang have to play exterminator. They track them down to an underground nest where they kill the demons, Faith and Buffy - Slayer style, Willow using her magic and Giles with brute force. Xander unfortunately gets his arse kicked, but looks on the bright side he made a good diversion. Buffy tells him it might be safer if he stays out of the way before leaving the cave, leaving Xander with Giles, Xander makes a pop-culture reference about Jimmy Olsen to him but it goes right over Giles's head.

Poor Xander is feelnig very out of place at the moment, all his friends have this superpower or that and feels alienated from the rest of the group because of the fluke.

Xander tries to play football with a couple of other students, but ends up hitting Jack O'Toole with it. Jack isn't impressed and threatens Xander with a beating before leaving. Cordelia sees this all and teases Xander about his lack of cool and his 'Zeppo'-ness.

Meanwhile Giles has translated an old text which fortells the end of the world. A group of She-demons are on their way to Sunnydale to open the Hellmouth.

Xander goes to see the coolest person in school - Oz - and aks him what makes someone cool. Oz tells him that he needs a 'thing'. Xander borrows his Uncle Rory's car because he believes it's his thing. Buffy and Willow decide not to tell Xander about the impended apocalypse because they don't want him getting hurt. When tease Xander (in a nice way) about his car, but Xander is convinced that it's his thing.

The rest of the gang send him on a donut run while they are researching where he bumps into Cordelia who's horrible to him again, but even she is stopped in her tracks when a beautiful girl who like his car, starts chatting Xander up.

Outside the Bronze that evening, Xander manages to crash into the parked car infront of him. Unfortunately, Jack is in it and he's not happy. He threatens Xander with Katie - his Bowie knife until a cop shows up and Xander covers for the both of them. Jack is impressed and invites Xander and the girl along to meet his friends.

But this is Sunnydale and Jack's friends are currently living in the Sunnydale Cemetery, and Jack plans to raise them from the dead.

At the library the gang are researching, trying to prepare while Oz is suffering from his time of the month. He's more agigitated than normal and Willow believes that he can sense bad stuff coming.

Giles leaves to try and contact the spirit realm to try and get some more information on the Sisterhood of Jhe - the she-demons who want to reopen the Hellmouth.

Xander is now 'Car Guy' and is driving Jack and his undead friends back into town so they can get some supplies to 'bake a cake'. While they break into a hardware store to get the 'ingredients', Xander spots Willow coming out of the magic shop, she goes over to him and tells him that she loves him (because she thingks the world will end and this would be the last time she ever saw him). She leaves for the Library, leaving Xander looking confused. Jack and the others now have all the ingredients that they need and want to initiate Xander into their gang - but there's a drawback - they want to kill him first and then raise him from the dead. Xander doesn't like ths idea and beats a hasty retreat in his car.

As he's driving through Sunnydale, he spots Faith who's trying to fight off some demons. Xander saves her and takes her back to her motel. Faith invites him in and get him to sleep with her (She always gets this way when she's been killing) She throws poor Xander onto her bed.

Once it's all over she kicks him out in his underwear because she has to shower. Xander goes back to his car and discovers Jack's ingredients are not cake ingreadients, but the stuff needed to make a bomb. He's still a little distracted by the fact he's had sex.

Xander discovers that Jack is planning to blow up the school, after catching one of Jack's friends and dragging him along while still driving the car. Xander roars off to the school, Jack and his gang close behind. Once in the school Xander manages to get rid of the rest of the gang and notices the others fighting the apocolypse, but he's got other problems, leaving the others to fight the Hellmouth and avoiding the Sisterhood of Jhe Xander gets to the bioler room to difuse the bomb. Or at least he would if he knew how. Jack shows up and Xander forces a Mexican standoff, not letting Jack leave until he disarms the bomb. They watch as the seconds tick down, Xander becoming quite philosophical to his fate. With only seconds to spare, Jack disconnects the bomb. Xander tells him that he doesn't want to see Jack on campus again then leaves. Jack is annoyed with Xander and Vows to get his revenge. He opens another door and inadvertantly lets Oz out (who was put in the basement to keep him safe). Oz attacks him and Jack meets a nasty end.

The next day in school everyone is feeling a little worn out - apart from Oz who feels strangely full. Xander joins them and asks how there night was, not mentioning the fact he knew what they were up to or that they look rather worse for where. Xander tells them that he had a quiet night and asks if anyone wants anything. He goes off to get some food and walks past Cordelia who stops him to be nasty again. Xander just smiles at her and carries on walking, leaving her blustering into thin air.
