Galway, Ireland 1753.

A pre-vampire Angel, known as Liam - chats up the family servent girl. She tries to refuse his advances but it's quite obvious that he's taken in by her charm. He tells the girl that it's alright, his father is at church repenting his sins. His father walks in on them and he tells Liam exactly how ashamed he is of his only son. He then punishes his son by hitting him.

LA, present day.

Angel is fighting a demon in a subway tunnel. The demon is very powerful and Angel takes quite a beating before hit kills it. Kate comes down the tunnel and finds Angel and the dead demon at his feet. She was told it was a hostage situation, but there doesn't seem to be anyone holding people hostage. Kate and Angel return to the subway station, Kate is not happy about this other-world infringing on her life. Angel tells her to cover it up. He then notices Kate's dad, Trevor hanging around the station and points him out to Kate. She goes over to talk to him and finds out that he's checking up on her, after hearing the crime over the police scanner. Kate tells Angel that they can't be friends.

Galway

Angel is living the - erm - drunk life in the local pub, getting into fights and chatting up the bar girls. Darla sits in a corner watching him and questions one of the serving girls about him. Angel spots Darla and smiles at her before rejoinung the bar brawl.

Present day

Wesley does some trawling through old books and finds the demon that Angel fought. It is called a Kwaini demon. They all tend to be female and they are a peace-loving balancing demon. Angel comments that this demon was anything but peace-loving. Cordelia is busy trying out a new security system and tells them that the code is her birthday. Angel says that he doesn't know her birthdate, to which Cordy replies that after typing it in for 11 and a half months she'll there is no way that they'll forget.

Angel tries to get some more information out of Kate on the passengers on the train, but Kate wants to forget the whole evil thing and move on. Wesley and Cordy find the demon's body in the subway tunnel and Cordy hacks it up (blink and you'll miss the strangeness of this - can you imanagine her doing this just 9 months ago?) and take some of it back so Wesley can do some tests on it.

Angel follows the delivery man who was on the train to an apartment building and is surprised to see him knock on a door and Trevor Lockley give him a strange package. After the delivery man goes, Angel tries to talk to trevor, but he doesn't want to know and slams the door in Angel's face.

Galway

Liam has packed his stuff up and is leaving the family home. His sister is in tears about it, but Liam has had enough of his violent dad, whoese expectations he'll never live up to. His father tells him that if he walks out that door to never expect to be allowed in again. Liam walks past him into the night.

Angel goes back to the pub to drown his sorrows and after some carousing he notices Darla, then we see some clips from Becoming of Darla siring Angel.

Present Day

Kate and her father do lunch and Trevor questions his daughter about Angel telling her that he doesn't like him.

Welsey disects the Kwaini demon and confirms that it is the demon he thought it was, but notices that some of her organs are enlarged and discivers a drug in her system similar to PCP. They deduce that someone on that train had a supply of the drug which was why the demon attacked it.

Cordy is on trail duty and comes back dressed in a blonde wig and dark sunglasses. She's been following the delivery man who was on the train and at Trevor Lockley's apartment. She has pictures of him at a place called Kel's Exotic Auto's where the exchange of packages like Trevor's takes place.

At Kel's Trevor is getting paid by some men in suits. He's been doing a job for them, helping them smuggle 'auto parts' using his police connections to get them through safely. He is being paid for his co-operation and to keep quiet. After he leaves, a big ugly demon comes out of the shadows and tells the men in suits to kill Trevor and the meddlesome Angel.

Galway

Angel's family are at his funeral. Everyone is crying except his father, who stands by the grave until it is filled again. That night Darla walks through the graveyard and waits by Angel's grave to rise. Once he is risen they are distrubed by a night-watchman who accuses them of being graverobbers, Angel's face morphs and he attacks the nightwatchman. Darla congratulates him on the first kill and Asks him who he's going to kill in the village. Angel says he's going to take the enitre village. Darla looks impressed by her childe's ruthlessness.

Angel's father is boarding up the windows and herbs have been hung around it. Someone has been killing people in the village and they all belive it is a demon. They're right though. Angel interuprts his dad. His father knows something about vampires and tells him that he can't be invited in. Angel says he was and points to the door. His sister is lying slumped no the ground, dead. Angel turns on his father and bits into him.

Present day

Wesley and Cordelia are still trying to get the new security system to work. Kate come in with theb passenger list for Angel. After she leaves Angel decides to warn Trevor about the trouble he could be in. As he is leaving the offices are attacked by a group of Kwaini demons. Wesley and Cordelia try to fend them off but without much success. Angel comes back to help and smashes out that big window in his ofice again. The alarm system turns out to be more annoying that helpful though. Angel quickly leaves for Trevor's to try and prevent him getting killed as well. he phones Kate telling her to get to his father's place as quickly as possible because he is in danger.

The men in suits turn up at Trevor's to make sure that he hasn't said anything to Kate. Trevor tells them that unlike her father kate is a good cop. They are about to kill Trevor when Angel bangs on the door. Trevor won't let him in though and Angel is powerless to help as the men in suits reveal themselves to be vampires and kill Trevor. As soon as Trevor dies Angel can come into the apartment and he dusts one vampire but the other escapes. Kate comes in and sees her father lying on the floor. She is absolutley distraught. Angel tries to comfort her but she tells him to leave her alone.

Angel goes back to his apartment and kits himself out with some serious weaponary. Those involved in Trevor's death will pay for what they've done.

Kate gets to Kel's first. When they turn to look at them she shoots at them. She knows it won't kill them but it'll hurt them quite a bit. She then stakes the one who killed her father. The ugly demon comes out of a back room to see what is going on and kate unloads most of her bullets into it. It's doesn't seem to really notice them. Angel turns up and helps Kate out, killing a couple of vampires and beheading the ugly demons. Angel tries to comfort Kate, but she turns on him telling him that he has no idea what it is like to lose a father.

Galway

Angel is sitting in his kitchen looking quite pleased with himself. Darla walks in and sees all of Angel's family dead. She tells him that although he beat his father in a couple of moments, the memory of his disapproval will stay with him forever.

Kate visits her father's grave and places some flowers on it. Angel watches her from the shadows.
