Angel goes to the Oracles. He wants Doyle back. They have folded time before, why can't they do it again? The female Oracle tells Angel that Doyle died an heroic death, why should they take that away from him. They also tell Angel not to come back to them for such a selfish reason. Elsewhere a demon runs away from the person on a flashy motorcycle. . . Cordelia is moping around the office, looking for something to remind her of Doyle, but there isn't anything there. Angel tells her to take the day off but she refuses, she doesn't want to be alone, although she does have to rush off for an audition for an advert. The demon that was running away scares Cordelia as she is leaving. he introduces himself as Barney, an empath demon, he can read people's emotions, which he uses to cheat people out of money in card games and the like. Angel is reluctant to help the demon and isn't best pleased when Barney comments on his being up during the day and not sleeping in a coffin. Cordelia is at her Stain-away audition and burst into tears in her first take. She tries to be more cheerful for the second one when she has a very blurry Doyle-style vision. The man on the bike is still trying to track Barney down, he finds some yellow blood on the side of a wall. Cordelia comes back from the audition mightily cheesed off and the first thing she does is kiss Angel reather passionately. She realises that Doyle passed his gift onto her through a kiss and now she's trying to pass it on to anyone else. Barney comes out of another room and Cordelia kisses him too. Still nothing. Angel tells Cordy to babysit Barney while he goes to find the person tracking down their client. He goes to Barney's place, a run down apartment in a run down building and is jumped by the man on the motorcycle who turns out to be Wesley of all people. He's a rouge-demon hunter and Angel's client has left a trail of mutilated bodies behind him. They are then attacked by another demon, who Angel manages to shoot with Wesley's crossbow, but it still escapes. Barney can sense that Cordelia is upset and tries to talk to her. She is trying to draw the grey blobby thing she saw in her vision. She tells him about Doyle. Wesley and Angel come back and Cordelia kisses the ex-Watcher before she realises who it is. She still can't pass on the visions. Angel and Wesley do some research and find out that they were attacked by a Kungai demon. Wesley tells Angel where he can find it and Angel goes off alone to fight it. He's not letting anyone else get involved. Angel goes to the Chinese quarter and bargins with a business owner, Soon, for information. Soon tells him that the demon he's looking for is out back. Angel investigates and discovers that the Kungai demon is dying. Wesley has followed Angel and is able to translate the Demons dying words: his horn was ripped off and it is dying form the wound. Cordelia tells Barney about Doyle and inheriting his visions and Barney tells her that Doyle gave her the most important thing he owned. While Cordy makes coffee, Barney phones a friend and reveals that he was the one who stole the horn and that he's found something even more valuable. . .Cordelia's visions. The demon is trying to describe who attacked him. Wesley is finding it difficult to translate it but manages to work out that the demon was killed by a heart-reader. . .an empath demon. . .Barney. Barney starts to pick on Cordelia's emotions, telling her that it was her fault that Doyle died and that she knows deep down that she is a terrible actress. He grabs Cordelia and she tries to get away by pretending that she is having a vision. It doesn't work though and Barney kidnaps her. Angel and Wesley return home but they're too late. Angel is blaming himself as is Wesley who confesses that he was sacked by the Council for letting Buffy quit and Faith go bad. Angel finds the drawing that Cordelia did of the grey blobby thing. He recognises it as a statue of a woman with an urn. Wesley translates the only word that was eluding him of the dying demon - acution. Cordelia has been taken to an auction at the hotel which owns the statue. Cordy comes round to hear that her eyes are up for auction, because she can see into the future. When the bidding starts it's low and to buy herself some time she goads the buyers into bidding more for her. A lawyer from Wolfram and Hart (remember them) offers the winning bid and Cordy is sold. However, the Lawyer only wants the eyes, not the rest of Cordy and it looks as if Cordelia is going to suffer some pain. Barney and his friend are about the start the extraction when Angel shows up, Wesley in tow, to kick some demon bottom. The Lawyer phones her bosses to tell them that Angel has ruined their plans again before making a run for it. While Angel fights Barney and his friend Wesley gets Cordelia free. Barney doesn't want to let Cordelia go without a fight and attacks Wesley. While they are rolling on the floor, Cordelia picks up the Kungai horn and stabs Barney in the back with it. Back the the apartment, Cordelia is ironing out the picture of the statue which she drew, saying that not only is it the picture that saved her life it will also remind her of Doyle. Angel is making breakfast - scrambled eggs and toast - and Wesley is getting ready to leave. Cordelia comments that Angel always makes breakfast after an all-nighter and that he's a really good cook. Wesley makes a big deal about going on the road, stalling his departure until Angel realises what the ex-Watcher is up to and invites him to stay for breakfast. |
