Angel's Journal - Season 1 - I Fall To Pieces

Season One

I Fall To Pieces

At the Office, Cordy and Doyle are discussing their need for paying customers. Cordy is feeling the need for designer clothes and a salary. She decides that they will stand up to Angel, once he's tried their disgusting recycled coffee (they an't afford to buy new stuff, y'see). Angel tries the coffee and gags on it, Cordelia takes the moment to push the point about getting money for their work. Doyle receives a vision of a woman called Melissa, she's in danger.

Across town, Melissa is bemoaning the cake she bought for her boss. The cake makers have put the wrong name on it. She and a fellow co-worker try to correct to, but make a mess. She gives Penny (whose birthday it is a pot plant in a pot she decorated herself. Melissa also gets a present, a huge bunch of flowers off someone called Ronald. This present upsets Melissa so much that she nips into the ladies room to pop a few tranquilizer pills before going back to work.

After work, Melissa is going down to her car when Angel surprises her. he offers his help, as a security service and gives her his card. She goes to withdraw some money out of her account, but can't because it won't accept her PIN number. Ronald comes up to her and tells her that he changed her number for her. He acts as if they are in a long term relationship, although they only went on one date. He frightens her so much that she phones the Investigations for help.

Angel is worried that he frightened Melissa and Cordy advise him to wear something other than black, become a more apporachable vampire. When Melissa calls he changes into a beigey coloured jumper. Much more friendly. :)

Melissa tells them that Ronald has been stalking her for over seven months, ever since her performed on operation on her to save her sight. they went on one date but that was it, now he won't leave her alone and even when he's not arounhd she can feel him watching her.

That night, Melissa is getting ready for bed in her apartment. Unknown to her they is a disembodied eye floating in the air wathcing her. It cuts back to Dr. Ronald whose eye is missing, sitting in his office.

Angel goes to Kate to ask a favour and get some information on Dr. Ronald. She does some digging and finds out that Ronald's lawyers are Wolfram and Hart (remember them, Russell Winter's lawyers). They have prevented anything bad happening to Ronald. She tells Angel that it's not good enough for Angel to fight Ronald, Melissa has to stop being afraid of him.

Doyle is on babysitting duty, keeping Melissa company at work. They chat about Melissa's life before Ronald, she used to bungee jump and everything. Angel is at Ronald's office, quietly searching through his things. When Ronald catches him he pretends that he is after Ronald's services to save his wife's life and that he is willing to pay anything. Cordelia is elsewhere in the building, pretending to be a journalist for a medical magazine and is interviewing of of Ronald's staff. She tells Cordy that Ronald can detach body parts for a long period of time without them dying, but is reluctant to share his discoveries with the medical community at large.

Back at the Office, Angel is trawling the internet for information on the author of the book he stole from Ronald's office. Angel emails him, asking for a meeting. He agrees and they meet up. He tells Angel that Ronald was able to master a number of pschological and phyical talents which allows him to perform his miracle operations. He can use psychic power to keep detached body parts alive.

On the other side of town, Melissa is sleeping and doesn't notice Ronald's disembodied hands crawling up the side of her bed, across her body and then down underneath the covers. Outside a policeman spots Ronald staring at Melissa's building and confronts him telling him to put his hands up. Ronald had no hands to do that with. Melissa wakes up to find these hands crawling all over her and starts to scream. The policeman hears her and runs to help. When her gets to the apartment, there is nothing to be seen. He is about to leave when Ronald's hands leap at him and strangle him to death before returning to Ronald.

Melissa runs out of the building and into Angel who comforts her while Ronald jealously watches Kate and the police arrive but can't get much sense out of Melissa. Doyle worries about the fact they are the only people who stand between Melissa and Ronald.

They take Melissa back to Angel's where Doyle busies himself by gaffer-taping up every vent and door in the apartment. Cordy and Angel are upstairs looking for somewhere that sells metal boxes to put body parts in when Ronald phones on the special line. Angel agrees to meet him and bring the $100,000 for his supposed wife's operation.

When Angel shows up at Ronald's office with a metal box, Ronald tells him that he knows that Angel isn't who he says he is and shoots him with a tranquiliser dart filled with a drug that slows the heart down. Angel convulses and falls to the floor (but he hasn't got a working heart anyway - I hear you say, well read on) Ronald leaves Angel 'dying' on the floor and goes to his apartment.

At his apartment, Doyle and Cordy are watching over a fast asleep Melissa (Doyle filled her tea with whisky) One of Ronald's hands manages to get through all the tape in over one of the vents and the other creates a diversion by rattling the sewer entrance. Doyle and Cordy get some weapons, but they are easily overpowered. Melissa wakes up to find Ronald there and tells him that she's not scared of him anymore. Ronald tells her that he has killed her bodyguard, just as Angel lets himself in. He fights Ronald who throws a scalpel at his shoulder and his teeth at his face. Angel manages to behead the evil doctor, finishing him off for good by putting him into twelve seperate boxes buried in the concrete of LA's newest underground station.

The next day, Melissa shows up with a pot plant to say thank you. Angel asks if it needs a lot of light. Cordy and Doyle unsutbly hint about being paid and Melissa gives Angel a cheque for his services, before syaing that she hopes she never sees him again. After she leaves, Cordy and Doyle decide to go down and deposit their lovely cheque. Angel declines the offer to join them, saying that he doesn't want to burn to death in the daylight.
