Season One
The Bachelor Party
|
Doyle is trying to persuade Angel to go out on the beer with him, but Angel would rather curl up with a good book. Cordelia comes in, happy because she's got a date, with a young, rich business man who'll be able to keep her in blue boxes (Tiffany's) for the rest of her life. When said date turns up he gets the third degree off Angel and Doyle. She ends up having to drag him out of the door. Doyle manages to get Angel's book off him to see what's so good about it. A black and white photo of Buffy falls out. Doyle is impressed and asks whether she likes little guys with an Irish accent. (Hands up). Doyle is interupted by one of those pesky visions, which shows a poor man about to be vampire supper. Doyle complains that everyone has dinner plans other than them. And off they go to save him. Cordelia's date, although, rich and success is very boring and Cordy is having problems staying awake. Angel and Doyle gatecrash the vampire's party and Doyle gets beaten about a bit until he reveals his demon self. But he won't fight as a demon, he doesn't like that side of him. One of the vamps survives the attacks and follows Doyle back to Angel Investigations, he shows up just as Cordy is being dropped off by her date. The vampire attacks them and while Cordy puts up a bit of a fight, the date does a runner out of fear, leaving her there. Doyle shows up and manages to dust the vampire. Although he's been hurt the first thing he asks is if Cordy is okay. Once Angel gets back Cordy fills him in on what happened and complains about how now she is aatracted to guys who are rich, successful, witty and brave. She even admits that Doyle has potential, but after dating our Xander she doesn't want another fixer-upper. Angel sorta persuades her to try and she is about to ask Doyle out when Doyle's past walks in through the door. She is Harriet Doyle, Doyle's estranged wife, seeking a divorce because she is about to get married again. we meet her new-hubby-to-be, Richard, and frankly he's a bit of a drip. After she leaves Doyle tells Angel that they broke up when his demonness started to appear, just after his 21st birthday. Doyle asks Angel to follow Richard, and Angel agrees and jokes that he shouldn't tell Cordy, because she'll try to charge him. Richard is walking along a street and Angel is following over the rooves of the nearby buildings. he watches as Richard makes an exchange for cash and then goes into a posh looking resturant. Angel watches as Richard becomes a demon and smashes in through the kitchen window to save Harry. She esplains that she knows that Richard is a demon and that she is a Demonologist. She say that it wasn't Doyle's demonness that pushed her away it was Doyle. Richard comes from a nice demon clan who own a chain of posh resturants. Doyle finally convinces himself that it wasn't the demon that broke him apart from Harry and signs the divorce papers. Richard invites Doyle to his bachelor party, while Harry invites Cordelia to her wedding shower as Cordy is one of the few women she knows in LA. Cordy agrees to go. Richard's family works on the party's events, which includes the eating of the first husband's brains as well as lots of beer and a stripper. Doyle shows up at the party, bringing Angel along as moral support. Richard asks about Doyle's marriage to Harry; while at the wedding shower, Harry tells Cordelia about what a great guy Doyle used to be. She reveals that Doyle was a third grade teacher, and worked at a soup kitchen. Cordy can't believe it, it can't be the same Doyle, but it is. Angel follows some of Richard's family upstairs and stumbling upon one of their demonic rituals, getting worried he calls Cordelia to see if Harry can translate some of their chants. Not expecting his appearance, and not needing any witnesses, Richard's family members beat up Angel and throw him out of a window. He lands in an alleyway, seemingly unconscious. After Doyle gives his blessing to the wedding, he is locked into a box with just his head exposed. On of Richard's brother's numb his head and then inform him that they're going to cut it open and Richard will eat his brains to ensure that his marriage to Harry will be successful. Across town at the wedding ahower, Harry deciphers the text and she and Cordelia leave to save Doyle after one of Ricjard's autns puts her foot in it by telling her what would happen. Angel comes around and then interrupts the demon family before they can harm Doyle. A huge brawl breaks out, and Doyle finally turns to his demon for strength. Cordy and Harry come rushing in, Cordy demanding to know what they've done with her friend. When Doyle pops his head out she starts hitting in with a silver tray, not realising who he is (bless her) Harry stops the fight and then Richard presents her with a choice. If the ritual isn't preformed, they can't get married, and she hands over her ring and leaves. Doyle is about to say something and Harry stops him saying that if he says a word she'll eat his brains. Back at the office, Doyle mopes and Cordy decides that someone with a pulse should cheer him up. Volunteering herself, she tells him that she thinks he is a nice guy, which cheers him up. Doyle has another vision, but this one's more disturbing than most. He sees Buffy fighting a vampire. She's in danger. Angel asks him what he saw and Doyle doesn't reply. |
